Hill End

Hill End, NSW

For those fascinated by the Australia gold rush era, Hill End gives you the experience of the past. Wandering the streets of well-preserved colonial gold mining heritage buildings is like stepping back in time.

There are underground mines, old mine relics to discover and even the chance to find a gold nugget.

Located 74km north (just over an hours’ scenic drive) from Bathurst. There is a General Store and pub to grab a bite to eat, A Historic Center in a beautiful tin shed with hidden gems, photographs and a beautiful video to watch the history of the town.

Hill End Historic Center

There are camping areas and public toilets in the area. Each Spring, the doors to Hill End's heritage buildings are open to the public, including exclusive access to buildings that are not normally open, with guided tours to delve deeper into their history.

Take an easy self-guided walk and discover the historic heritage of Hill End on Village walking track.

Pick up a map from the Hill End General Store and take yourself on a self-guided walk to the many historic sites. There are also guided tours available, so if you want to get a more in-depth perspective, ask about Discovery tours. Many of the buildings around the town will have a plaque with a bit about the history from shops to the families who lived in the houses.

Hill End is by far one of my favourite places to visit in the Bathurst region. Give yourself 1 to 2 hours or more if you are walking around discovering the town.
