Back to Blogging: Adventures, History, and New Beginnings

It’s been a while since my last post, but I’m back and excited to share more adventures, history, books, and of course, horses. A lot has changed since my last update, and not all of it has been easy.

Sadly, in June 2024, I lost my best mate, Loch, my blue cattle dog, to cancer. He was my companion for 10 amazing years, always by my side in that yellow Holden ute. Most of the places I’ve blogged about were adventures we shared together, and it often felt like this page existed because of him. It’s been hard to continue without Loch, but I’ve decided that moving forward is the best way to honor the memories we created.

Loch on the Berghofers Pass, Mount Victoria trail. This is a great dog on-leash and horse friendly walking trail.

This blog is still a place for history, stories, and the joy of discovering country towns I have never been to before. I’ll be writing about the books I’ve read (and the one I’m trying to write—more on that soon!) and sharing bits of my riding journey. I’m also planning a refresh for the website. It’s time to revisit some places I’ve been meaning to explore and breathe new life into this space.

On my list of upcoming adventures are visits to more of NSW’s charming country towns—there’s so much to uncover in these hidden gems. The big dream for this year is to finally get back to the UK, where I hope to dive into even more history and culture. I also want to share more about the events I attend, like writing workshops, and bring you along for the ride.

My goal is to post here once a week, and getting started again is the hardest part—so here we are. I’ll see you in the next post!

In the meantime, I’d love your help. What are your favorite country towns in NSW? Drop your suggestions in the comments—I’d love to share them here on the blog.
